Peter Fernandez, MD, and Amanda Fernandez, DPT, MPH, CSCS, have one goal: To get each person feeling and moving better so they can return to the activities they enjoy and share life with family and friends.

The team understands the physical and emotional toll pain takes on a person’s life, and they’re fully committed to improving each person’s pain. They believe in a personalized approach, taking time to understand a person’s concerns, determining the root cause of their pain, and directing the treatment plan to improve their quality of life.

Sunshine Spine and Pain Specialists, PLLC, offers comprehensive care for pain arising from any cause and affecting any body area. They often help patients with back, neck, and joint pain. The team also specializes in easing the pain of challenging conditions like neuropathy, sciatica, and vertebral compression fractures.

Interventional techniques always target the source of the pain. Minimally invasive treatments, such as epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, and spinal cord stimulation, effectively relieve pain by directly treating the nerves causing the problem.

As a double board-certified interventional pain physician, Dr. Fernandez has extensive skills and experience. He provides patients with a vast array of high-level procedures, including innovative treatments such as minimally invasive lumbar decompression (mild®), the Superion® Indirect Decompression System, the Intracept® procedure, and implanting the SpineJack®.

Whatever a patient’s condition or situation, Sunshine Spine and Pain Specialists, PLLC, has treatments to ease their pain, improve mobility, and help them return to an active life. To learn more, call the office or request an appointment online today

While Dr. Fernandez was very personable and knowledgeable, I cannot say the same for his staff. I was scheduled to have a procedure for my back pain on 8/28. I received an In-Office Procedure Scheduling sheet, which has several check points. I arrived on 8/28 and was asked if I had taken any OTC meds. I said I had taken 2 Excedrin to relieve some of the pain. I was told the procedure couldn't be performed because Excedrin contains aspirin which is a blood thinner. I was told that I couldn't take any OTC meds that contained aspirin at least 3 days before the procedure. I wanted the procedure because I would be traveling for the month of September. I had to reschedule to 10/8. However, Hurricane Milton came and I had to reschedule to 10/18. On 10/17 I called the office to make sure of the restrictions, especially for NSAIDS. No one called until the following morning. I told the woman who called that I had taken Excedrin 4 days prior to the appointment. She put me on hold for a while to check whether this OK. She came back on the line and said she was told it had to be at least 7 days without taking Excedrin or any OTC product containing aspirin before the procedure. I lost my cool, and told the woman that that I would not reschedule. After my first postponement on 8/28 I faxed a letter to Dr. Fernandez suggesting that information should be added to the In-Office Procedure Scheduling that indicated that no OTC meds containing aspirin should be taken within 7 days of the procedure date. One line. I never heard back from Dr. Fernandez.
